53,238 people comprise our well-balanced work force recognized for its high percentage of skilled and professional level workers and for being one of the most productive in the nation. Labor costs, however, are often below those in adjoining metropolitan centers.

Health Care
A substantial number of physicians, high quality hospitals in Canadaigua, Geneva, and Clifton Springs as well as several HMO.s, skilled nursing facilities, home care programs and a progressive community health services department meet the needs of the local population. The principal insurance provider, in what has been recognized nationally as a model health care system, is Blue Cross and Blue Shield which offers a variety of programs under its constantly expanding umbrella.
